Welcome to GuitarBasement
I’m JC, and GuitarBasement is where I share guitar lessons, honest gear reviews and practical tips from my home studio. Everything here is meant to help you spend less time guessing and more time playing.
About the free course
This free course is about more than learning chord shapes. You’ll learn to play each chord with good technique: clean notes, smooth chord changes and steady, relaxed strumming. It’s 26 short lessons with play-alongs at slow and faster tempos.
- Modules 1–2: one-finger chords, then the basic CAGED chords
- Modules 3–6: 7ths, minors, minor 7ths, major 7ths and sus chords
- Modules 7–9: strumming patterns and full play-along exercises
New lessons come out on YouTube every Tuesday and Friday at 3 PM ET. Already know a few chords? Skip ahead to Module 2 (Lesson 6) and focus on technique.

All 26 lessons are also on Guitar in Real Time, my lesson site, in one place and without ads, with an optional low-cost membership.
